This is the first Challenge I've set myself. The aim is to build a bit more exercise into my day, without it costing a great deal of time or money. O's school is only across the road so it's not much exercise taking him there every day. But, I could walk a little more after dropping him off/before picking him up. I did this a little bit last term, this term I will commit to doing it regularly.
So the challenge is:
I will walk for 20 - 30 mins every day, either after I have dropped O at school or before I pick him up in the afternoon. I will do this on a minimum of 3 days out of 5 each week, and this will be in addition to my other exercise commitments (1 each of aquarobics, belly dancing, swimming) not instead of.

Go, Clazza! You and I share a similar challenge; I'm committing to daily exercise (6:00 in the mornings before work and a more civilized hour on the weekends.) I'm going to be using some power walking tapes with weights on most days, and intense biking on a couple of others.
I know you can do it -- it's a big deal to give yourself a challenge, and I think you set yourself up for success by making it manageable and achievable. You're going to prove to yourself that you can do it!
thanks Sarah :) I think 'manageable and acheivable' is the key. The area I live in isn't very pretty (understatement lol) so it's not very attractive to walk round - the thought of going for a long walk round here doesn't exactly appeal. But, just walking for an extra 10/15 mins after taking O to school, that's nothing, I can do that.
I'm not sure if you read my blog, but I've shared there that I am expecting some power walking tapes any day now; I'm going to be walking at home, and work up to 3 miles before work, and 4 or 5 on one weekend day. I'll let you know how it goes, but these tapes are very popular: Walk Away the Pounds. You do 1 mile in 20 minutes, 2 in 30, and 3 in 45 -- or something like that. It's low-impact, but more beneficial than regular walking, as you're moving your arms and it's more vigorous -- sort of like aerobics without the jumping and hopping. Something like this might be a good solution for you, as the weather and walking environment are eliminated as negative factors. :)
I do read your blog :) and I'm thinking about maybe getting a walking video. I'm not sure I'd do it, tho. I'll try this idea of walking a little each day, and if it doesn't work out, I'll prob get a video
